1. Using Ascent Money
These terms apply to Ascent Money’s app, learning content and Coach. By using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Questions can be sent to hello@ascentmoney.app. Read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for information-handling practices.
2. Education, not personal advice
Ascent Money provides general information and education only. It does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs and is not financial advice. Consider seeking independent advice from a licensed professional. Personalisation and calculations using your numbers do not turn educational content into personal advice. We do not provide investment, tax, legal or debt-restructuring advice, recommend particular financial products, or promise returns. You remain responsible for your decisions.
3. Savings calculations
Amounts are in Australian dollars (AUD). Savings totals depend on the information you enter; the app is not a bank account or an authoritative financial record. Goal dates and milestones are illustrative estimates based on your plan, not guarantees. Income changes, missed contributions, withdrawals, interest, inflation, taxes and fees may affect real outcomes. The app does not hold, transfer or invest your money.
4. Your account
Provide information you are entitled to share and keep your account details accurate. Protect your password and do not share your login. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use. Do not impersonate another person or access another person’s account. You are responsible for activity you authorise, subject to any rights you have under applicable law.
5. Coach limitations
The Coach is an AI education tool, not a licensed adviser or emergency service. Replies may be incomplete, inaccurate or outdated; verify important information independently. It must not be relied on for personal investment, tax, legal or debt-restructuring decisions. Do not share sensitive credentials or identity details. The Coach currently allows 10 messages per person during early access over a rolling 24-hour period. For personal financial advice, see MoneySmart’s financial advice resource. For financial hardship, contact the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007. In an emergency call 000; Lifeline is available on 13 11 14.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use the service unlawfully, harass others, upload malicious content, attempt to bypass security or message limits, interfere with the service, or obtain data you are not authorised to access. Do not submit content that infringes another person’s rights. We may restrict or suspend access reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risks or legal obligations. Where appropriate, we will explain the restriction and you can contact support to request a review.
7. Your content and our content
You retain your rights in the information and content you submit. You give us permission to process it as needed to operate the service, including Coach processing described in the Privacy Policy. This is not a transfer of ownership. App branding, software and learning materials belong to their respective owners. You may use learning content for your own education; do not reproduce or commercially distribute protected material without permission or a legal right to do so.
8. External services and links
Google sign-in and linked websites or government resources are provided by others under their own terms. A link is a resource, not a recommendation of a financial product. We do not control third-party content or guarantee its availability. Check that external information is current and relevant before relying on it.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the app available but interruptions, maintenance and errors can occur. We may change features or limits and will give reasonable notice of material changes where practicable. These terms do not authorise retrospective removal of rights you have already acquired. You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account in Settings.
10. Australian consumer rights and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a consumer guarantee or other right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law. Subject to those rights, we do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that using it will achieve a particular financial outcome. Any responsibility for loss is determined under applicable law; this policy does not impose a blanket exclusion of liability or require you to waive non-excludable rights.
11. Deletion and ending use
Deleting your account permanently removes your login and personal records from the active app database as described in the Privacy Policy. Save any records you need before deleting. You can contact support if you cannot access your account. Obligations that by their nature continue after use ends, including intellectual property protections and applicable legal rights, continue to apply.
12. Questions, disputes and updates
Contact hello@ascentmoney.app first so we can try to resolve concerns fairly. These terms are intended for an Australian service and do not take away any mandatory protections or complaint rights in your jurisdiction. We will publish updated terms with an updated date and provide notice of material changes where appropriate. Continued use after changes take effect indicates agreement to the updated terms, without limiting non-excludable rights.
