1. Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. Local storage is a separate browser feature that can retain information between visits. This policy covers both, including storage used when Ascent Money is installed on your home screen. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
2. Sign-in storage
The app’s authentication service uses browser local storage to keep your signed-in session and refresh it. This includes session tokens; it is not advertising storage. The service and hosting infrastructure may also use necessary cookies or storage to deliver and secure the app. Session validity is controlled by the authentication service, while local storage can remain until sign-out or removal. Blocking necessary storage can prevent sign-in or disrupt the app.
3. App preferences and celebrations
The app stores an installation-prompt dismissal preference on your device so it does not keep asking you to add the app to your home screen. It stores your selected savings goal and a per-user plan snapshot (goal and savings balance) to detect newly completed milestones without repeating old celebrations. These use local storage, not advertising cookies. The installed app also caches app pages and static files for loading and an offline fallback; saved account data still needs an internet connection. Local storage and caches can remain until the app removes them or you clear site data. Shared devices can retain local preferences and cached pages, so sign out and clear site data when needed.
4. Advertising, analytics and external services
The current app does not include advertising cookies or an optional analytics-cookie integration. Our service providers may still process technical requests and security or error logs; these are not the same as optional tracking cookies. Google sign-in, Google Fonts and external sites can involve third-party requests and their own practices. We do not control cookies on websites you choose to visit. If optional tracking is introduced, we will update this policy and provide choices where required before it is enabled.
5. Your choices
You can view, block or clear cookies and site data in your browser’s privacy settings. Clear site data for ascentmoney.app and, if you have used it, www.ascentmoney.app. Installed apps use the browser’s storage controls. Clearing sign-in storage signs you out; clearing preferences can make the installation prompt or milestone state initialise again. Clearing browser storage does not delete your saved account, savings history or Coach conversation. Use Settings → Delete account to delete your account records.
6. Why there is no optional-cookie banner
There are currently no optional advertising or analytics cookies to accept or reject in the app. Essential sign-in storage and the local preferences described above are disclosed here; your browser remains the place to block or remove them. This policy is not consent to future tracking, and no optional tracking is enabled by accepting the financial-education disclaimer.
